As I am getting ready for my upcoming business trip to the Netherlands, I contacted one of my favorite restaurants, Bernisse Molen, to get a reservation. I first found this place in 2004 on my first business trip there. This top end fine dining restaurant is inside a restored windmill. The surrounding scenery and the restored windmill captured my heart since. Ever since, each time I made a visit to the area, I made a point to dine there. Although I have no idea what the menu said, because it is in Dutch, I was adventurous enough to try their four courses surprise menu, meaning whatever the chefs can come up with that evening. And I was never disappointed.
Therefore, I was very very disappointed when I received the email from them telling me they are now closed due to the slow economy! So it isn’t just the US, but all around the world that fine dining establishments are taking a hard hit. I do hope someday, someone would take over this restored windmill and open once again for visitors.
These pictures were taken during my first visit there, about 5 years ago now. Oh, I think I look about the same???
