Hello 2009…

In the last few years, I started to write down my personal goals for the new year around this time.

I was trying to consolidate my PDA, laptop outlook, Google Calendar this past weekend. It has been on my to-do list for over a year now since my last laptop died on me in Jan 08. That was my last synchronization. And then I discovered Google Calendar to share my travel schedule with friends and family, so they can keep track of my where about! That also means I had data scatter around a few systems. I start to feel like too many places to keep updates.

Anyway, after who knows how many trials this weekend, I think I finally got it align in one calendar now. It just makes me so happy to be organized, yes, a bit of OCD. But it would only be productive, right? I don’t need to enter data in multiple places!!! That is what I am preaching at work on projects we rolled out!!! I found my notes on NY Resolutions I wrote for 2008:

  1. Develop career at work
  2. Develop and maintain the relationship with Tom
  3. Maintain my weigh
  4. Volunteer at least once
  5. Improve my appearance/dress code
  6. Give myself more downtime
  7. Simplify my lifestyle

I think I did pretty well on the first two. Number 3 & 4 are ok, I think I semi-met the requirements. And #5 is a long time project to develop my own style. Number 6-7 basically went out the window. I guess I wasn’t planning on a complete flip on my old world. But it happened. And it is for good reasons. Oh well, that is my performance review on my own goals. It is interesting but true. In the last few years, I have been able to knock out the first few items; the last few ones are a bit iffy. This means, the important ones get the most effort and attention…

So for 2009, I drafted up a few things.

  1. Practice to live as a family
    • Simplify our lifestyle (such as combine our life, household, and finance together, share common interests/hobbies)
    • Start a family if possible
  2. Maintain relationships with friends and family
  3. Slow down on business travel at work
  4. Maintain my weigh
  5. Volunteer at least once
  6. Improve/define my style
  7. Give myself some “Me” time
Let’s see where this would take me in 2009.
