Introducing Boo Boo

When I was in OZ earlier, my teammates were all discussing about how they had to “sensitively” handle the Valentine issues. Two of the men were to be away during Valentine. And of course, there were a bunch of jokes around the men and women issues. I like these two.

(1) How do you remember Valentine? You only need to miss it one time.

(2) One of them got this video off the internet. I think it was a commercial for jewelry store. He showed it as an icebreaker for our meeting. Of course, I couldn’t resist sending it to Tom. It is always good idea to take preventive measure, isn’t it??? Anyway, this is the link if you want to see the video. It is really funny.

Last year, he got me long stem red roses. So he did really well. But he also mentioned to me that he isn’t skillful in this gift giving arena. So I told him a while back, just give me the same thing, meaning flowers, thinking he wouldn’t have to invest too much brain power.

Well, on Saturday morning, a package promptly arrived. Of course, it was addressed to Joanna “R…”. Inside is this little adorable Vermont Teddy Bear. I was thinking; what am I going to do with this stuff animal? It turns out I like this little bear a lot more than I thought I would. All his legs and arms can be rotated 360 degree. And so is its head. This is a boy bear, with boxer. Then the next day, Tom asked me if I were to name him. It never crossed my mind to do so. So I came up with the lame reply, “I think I need to bond with it first.” And he said, “If you are not going to name him, I will. His name is Boo Boo.” Ok, that settled it. His name is Boo Boo.

I asked Tom how he came up with the idea of getting me a bear. He said he had listened to the radio talking about this bear for the longest time. Now he has a reason to get one. Well, that is good enough for me. I am definitely surprised this year.

What did I get for him? In comparison, it is not very creative. I got him a pair of Tommy Bahamas pants and a box of Godiva chocolate. I think I need to exchange the pants, it is too short. Yes, the newly wedded, not knowing my hubby’s size syndrome. Well, it has been a very long while since I purchased wearable for a man!

I prepared two meals since Valentine is on a Saturday this year. We decided not to go out for a fancy dinner, especially after my 3 weeks of fine wine and dining. On Saturday night, I steam up Alaskan King Crab legs and tiger shrimps with Pappardella pasta in vodka sauce.

On Sunday night, I made Venison. Fran brought me some when she last visited. It has been sitting in the freezer. These are back stripe, looks like precut and pre tenderized medallon. A while back, I bought a Venison Rub from Doc Kendrick Wild Game Spice Blend. Cool, I get to use stuffs I acquired!!! I put the dry rub on and let it marinated for a short while. And then did a quick pan fried. The sauce is basically, sliced onion, sliced mushroom, red wine and reduced it. The dish was actually quite delicious, considered my first tried on venison, without any recipe.
