It may be difficult to understand for a newly married person. I do enjoy a bit of “me” time. Consider that I have lived by myself for the last seventeen years prior to three months ago; it should not be a surprise that living with another person is a work in progress for me.
I enjoy coming home to Irvine. Even though I love Tom’s place, it doesn’t have all my stuffs there. And after being away on business for 3-4 weeks in OZ, and then basically spent the last two weeks in Redondo Beach, I needed to be at “home” this weekend. I needed to feel “grounded”. No worry, it just meant Tom had to come down to Irvine for the weekend. Compromises work both ways and so far we have been pretty good at it.
Since I luckily still have my 9/80 schedule at work, I have every other Friday off. And this is one of those. While the hubby is at work, I play…
Meetup with Girlfriends
Can you believe this? I haven’t seen anyone (non-family related) since the wedding. I strongly believe that being married does not mean one disappears from the single world and only spend time with each other or other married people.
This week happens to be OC Restaurant Week. It’s a good thing. I took advantage and joined a few friends for dinner at Opah on Thursday night. It never hurts to have good laugh and fun with just girls. I wasn’t the only “married” person, there was another one. And at least one other is “attached”. So my dear sweetie, if you are reading this, we did not do anything remotely related to being out and about to get any male attention, just having a relax dinner over good conversations. He was teasing me about me partying with other girls the first chance I have… of course, this is when he is just coming back from a happy hour with colleague…who is talking here…
Alma and Monique were there. And so was Yvette, whom I have written but never met in person since a year ago over wine pairing dinner planning…
Basically, Restaurant Week is when participating local restaurants put on special pre-fix lunch and dinner for a lower price. In this case, it is $30 for 3 courses. There are usually 2-3 choices per course. Dinner was excellent. The portion was their standard size. I chose the following:
- Ahi Tuna Tartare - Crab, papaya, wasabi caviar
- Blackened Salmon - Lump crab corn hash, charred tomato salsa, sweet corn nage
- Warm Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding - Crème Anglaise, vanilla bean ice cream
We began around 7 pm and didn’t leave the restaurant until close to 10 pm. It is a good thing that I didn’t have to work the next day!
