The Road to High Jinks

We made our way west out to the coast. There was traffic coming back into town, but we were heading out, so it didn’t seem to take long. We took in the fresh country air, the greens, and the amazing Yellow Meadow Vetchling blooms at every turn. What a great surprise, why no one talks about the yellow flowers? I had to goggle for a long while before finding out what the name is!!! This Yellow Pea flowers are considered a weed, but it is so very beautiful!

We finally arrived at High Jinks. That is the name Tom’s sister, Nilenka, named her vacation home. It was an older home, but was completely remodeled by them. I don’t know how long it took, but I couldn’t imagine being quick as all the fine details are there, both interior and exterior. I love the front gate with the old wheel, so are the round skylight windows. We jumped out the car and immediately took a few pictures in the front yard before even opening the door to go inside. This is a really big place just for the two of us. It is a 3 bedrooms, 2 bath fully furnished home. So before we came up here, I invited Brenda and her family to join us for couple days on the weekend.

When they arrived later in the week, they stayed in the 3rd bedroom with the 3 bunk beds. The two kids love the smaller size furniture. There are plenty of spaces for them to spread out just inside this one room. The living room has comfy chairs in front of the fireplace. Tom tested out the fireplace on our first night, very welcoming feels. I love the kitchen, the high BTU stove, the wide sink etc. Even Brenda, the non cooking person, wants that sink. Anyway, too many details to explain, you just have to be there to experience.

And it only took two minutes to walk to the beach. After we dropped off our luggage, we went to the beach and had our first sighting of the beach and coastal area. Haystack rock just rises itself in front of us. Yes, we are in love with the area.

That yellow flowering shrub is also called "Spanish Broom," "Scotch Broom," and even "Portuguese Broom." Around here it's usually called Spanish Broom, and everywhere the government has programs to try to get rid of it. You can see they are not very successful because it's growing everywhere. It is the plant that is threatening to take over the world!
