I met Wildith when I was working in Singapore. She was working for Shell at the time. We continued our work assignment later on in Australia the year after. She is originally from Mauritius, migrated to Australia long time ago, and is now a citizen of Australia. Her eldest daughter went to a university in Alabama on a sport scholarship. She is graduating this summer, so Wildith is attending the graduation ceremony. Los Angeles is her first port of entry to the US; it makes sense for her to make a quick stop to visit with me. I haven’t seen her since 2007!
After Tom and I picked her up from the airport, we went to the Redondo Beach pier, showed her where we live. There was an art show on the weekend. We browsed around and let her stretched her legs for a while before a lunch at a the Pacific Fish Center & Restaurant on the pier. She and I were traveling around when we were in Singapore. We both were unattached and have an appetite for travel. So she takes pictures of everything too. Here is one of her with our big pot of spicy seafood soup.
After lunch, we drove back to Irvine. She stayed with me down in Irvine. We left Tom up in Redondo Beach on his own! I took a quick nap; she tried to stay up to adjust the jetlag. In the evening, we had a leisure dinner at Javier for the Californian version of Mexican food plus walking around the Irvine Spectrum. I took her to the Anthropologie store. I love their bright colors mix on their designs even though they are very pricy. Hey, it doesn’t cost anything to window shop!
The next day, after a quick lunch at one of the OC Chinese restaurant (yes, she favors Asian cuisine too); I took her to Mission San Juan Capistrano. We only have one full day really, and we would have spent way too much time in travel if we head into Los Angeles. I wanted to show her some place that is kind of Californian. We already saw the coast and a Californian mission would do it!!! We had a fabulous time walking around in the sunny weather. She took tons of pictures.
We ended the day with a Ramen at the Ajisen Ramen in Irvine. Her flight out to Alabama was very early out of LAX and I had a 6:30am conference call I had to make after I dropped her off at the airport. Yes, we left the house at 4:30am!!! It was a quick visit, but it is better than not seeing each other …
