With all the craziness at work, and our homeless situation (meaning I couldn’t unpacked my holiday décor stuffs), I did practically nothing this year for Halloween. Since we are living in the apartment in Redondo Beach, really, this isn’t high on any parents’ list of trick n’ treats spots. I wouldn’t expect any kids to show up at all!!!
I really wanted to do something holiday-ish but I didn’t want or prepare to dress up in costumes. I suggested Disney but there was an additional fee for the evening event after we already paid for an annual passport to the theme park, crazy! Then maybe a haunted house somewhere to scare the hack out of myself. Well, we didn’t know any. The only one I heard of is the Queen Mary in Long Beach, but Tom wasn’t very excited over it.
I continued to browse the web and finally came across the West Hollywood Halloween Carnaval. I have heard about it each year and conveniently forgot about it since I used to live in OC and therefore way too far to go to. So I mentioned to Tom, he actually went to it once before. He said it was scary; meaning not your typical kind of Halloween ghostly scary….but definitely worth the trip and the parking hassle.
As you can see from the pictures below. There were plenty to see, definitely met my requirement to do something Halloween-ish, plus MORE….and I already trimmed down the triple XXX rated ones for the wider audience!!!
I was very impressed with all the effort people put into their costumes. People were nice and very welcome any picture taken. I guess if you spent the money and the energy to do this, you may as well be publicized. There were plenty big cameras on the streets for the newspaper and TV stations. With all the music and drinking and wild dress up characters, I didn’t see any people drunk or fighting. Everyone were there to have fun, regardless if you were gay, straight, in the middle, bi-whatever….
My most favorite costume is the Batman family. Look for it in the pictures below.
