Philae

Philae is one of my favorites on this trip. Perhaps because it was our first temple on the tour, we hadn’t been desensitized visually by all the historical monuments. On the other hand, it might be its location, on an island in the middle of significant dryness. Nevertheless, I was in awe.

What we know today as “Philae” is not the same one the ancient built. Philae is actually a nonexistent island now buried beneath Lake Nasser. The original island was sometimes visible and sometimes not with the Old Dam, but it is permanently submerged under water after the construction of the Aswan High Dam.

The main temple complex was relocated from Philae Island to the island of Agilika. The temple centered on the goddess Isis and her connection with Osiris, Horus, and the Kingship, during the Ptolemaic period of the Egyptian history.

Visit this site to learn more about Philae.
We were having so much fun under the warm sun in front of the Egyptian architecture structures. I especially love love love the columns. I tried out a bit of lifestyle photography and asked my family to post and allowed my D90 went to work.
