I am a Million Miler

What does that get me? Not much in these days. I got this nice package and a letter in the mail, telling me I am now a Million Miler. Really, it has never been one of my goals to achieve this. A while back, I saw on my Continental account that they are tracking the lifetime miles. Now, they also track how much revenue you can generate for them. So, it is not the miles that counts, but rather how much you paid for those miles now.

Anyway, all it means is I would get silver elite status with them forever. Tom would also get the same since he is my spouse. But as you know, silver gets you nothing, ok, maybe just to get on the airplane a bit earlier, and it might be possible to waive the baggage fee. I guess it is better than nothing.

And now that Continental and United are merging, I truly don’t know what it would mean? And another new set of rules to study. As with all mergers, it doesn’t look good the better frequent flier program would remain….yuck.

I do have to say, the luggage tag is nice. A few years back, the first time I got a leather luggage tag from Continental when I first reached Platinum Elite status, someone stole it from me on my first checked luggage. So I am not hanging this on any check-in luggage, just my carry-on laptop bag.
