I have been wanting to go The Original Farmers Market for a while now. I couldn't remember if I were ever there before. It certainly doesn't resemble what I imagined to be, like a real farmer produce market.
Getting there from our home was a hassle, we forgot it was the long weekend, and the roads in LA were true to their infamous reputation, jam packed and slow. An hour later, we arrived. And basically, I was disappointed because it looked like it was just a converted food court, with a few butcher shops. The cooked food vendors served a variety of cuisine.
Tom wanted to eat there. I had my heart set at another place, but agreed since he said that was the main purpose of coming to The Original Farmer Market. We walked around and settled on the Gumbo Pot. I was craving for southern food, and it had a decent line.
Tom had the seafood gumbo and I had the cornmeal fried shrimp platter. I love the little paper cup of sauce, whatever that was. The gumbo was ok, I had better. But nevertheless, having lunch on a weekday with my husband is still precious.
