Beso Steakhouse

Beso Steakhouse is practically downstairs from our Veer apartment in Las Vegas. When it first opened, it was well advertised, especially since it is owned by Eva Longoria and located inside Crystal in Citycenter.

I read mix reviews on Yelp. So I wasn't rushing to try it out as there are so many great ones to choose from in Vegas. I was surprised to see the Travelzoo offer for the shared four course meal at half off. Well...that is really twisting my arms...don't you think?

Since we "roughed" it out in the desert, we got to treat ourselves to a more decent meal once we arrived to our second home. The restaurant is nicely decor. Even thought it was a busy week between Christmas and New Year in Vegas, the restaurant was pretty empty for a Wednesday night.

The service was ok, not exceptional. Sometimes I think people can treat you differently once they find out you are using "discount". Well, I always tip on full value but not everyone does that. So I suppose the service staff can see us as a gamble.

Anyway, our first share course is shrimp ceviche. It was good, but the portion...I don't think you can find anything smaller! There were a whole plate of chips with about an ice cream scope of ceviche.

We then each got a salad. Mine was good, with about 5 leaves of bib lettuce plus a bit of other topping, the BESO. I certainly wouldn't pay the $14 for this salad. Tom had the Caesar.

As for my main course, I got the pan roasted diver scallops, adobo spice. Four jumbo scallops, a bit over salted, with some hard to see things on the bottom of the plate (supposed to be vegetable ragout). Well, the restaurant is dark inside, lots of mood light. Tom had a steak, it did look like it was cooked to order.

For dessert, we shared a churros (Cinnamon dusted churros with chantilly cream and caramel sauce). This was the best course out of all four. It is kind of like cinnamon sugared donut in long string shape. Freshly fried and served warm. Yes, that was good.

Overall, I think this place is ok, above average at best. I probably wouldn't come back anytime soon.
