Tea @Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas

Ever since the Mandarin Oriental Las Vegas opened, and reported to serve afternoon tea, I wanted to try. However, afternoon tea is not everyone's cuppa. Well, I can hardly imagine Tom would sit with me quietly enjoying a cup of tea and those little sandwiches!

I finally waited for the right person to enjoy this little outing with me. Ira was visiting Las Vegas with her in-law's family to spend again another new year's eve this year.

I made reservation as soon as Ira confirmed her visit to ensure we had a table since there aren't that many tables at the Mandarin Oriental tea lounge and the service hour is limited to 2:30 - 5pm. The tea lounge, sophistically decorated with comfy chairs, is also perfectly set to overlook the strip. I love the beautiful chandelier like hangings.

We both ordered the Classic Afternoon Tea Service. It came with the following:

First plate:
  • Smoked salmon & cucumber with watercress spread
  • Egg salad & chives on brioche
  • Curried chicken salad sandwich
  • Black Forest ham sandwich

Second plate:
  • Scones with imported Devonshire, clotted cream and Chef Gianni’s house made marmalades and jams

Last plate:
  • Madeleines, financier, fruit tarts, macarons and chocolate treats

All was excellent, the setting, the service, the atmosphere, and the food were all really really enjoyable. Obviously, we couldn't finish all the food, especially after I had couple pots of tea (and that was a very big tea pot). We left at least half of the last plate on the table even though we didn't have lunch!

I can't wait to do this again!
