Recap: Getting Ready for the Big Day (Nov 23rd)

The marathon continued the next morning to me waking up at 6am. I had to drive to Garden Grove to get my hair and makeup done. My previous trial landed me at Kim Sun Young. They normally close for business on Sunday, but they did a special session for us. Both of my sisters, my sister-in-law, and my mom all needed help in making ourselves presentable for the special occasion! With 5 of us, it was worth their time to open the business on Sunday.

I packed both of my dresses (one for the tea ceremony, and one for the western ceremony) in my car trunk. The road was empty. I was supposed to rehearse my vows to Tom, but completely forgotten to do this. It has to be the excitement, isn’t it?

Sandy was only planning to do her hair and not makeup. But we talked her into getting the whole package. I think in the end, she’s happy with the results. I saw my brother slow danced with her and kissing her during the dance. What man does not appreciate a good looking wife?

I was the first one to get my makeup done. Then onto the hair, I had decided to leave my mid-length hair down rather than an up-do. My facial shape would better fit and I am hoping I wouldn’t look too round in pictures. I don’t think I ever gotten a decent looking picture of me with my hair up. Ever.

After curling my hair, here came the sparkling hairspray. I didn’t know this kind of product exists! I am not sure if you can see the sparkles in the picture. Since I won’t have a touch up between the tea ceremony and the western ceremony, the stylist secured the diamond princess crown. It fits well with both outfits anyway!

When all was done, I left the salon and headed directly to Brenda’s place for the tea ceremony. By then, it was already a little after 10 am. Tom and his crews were supposed to arrive around 11 am. His sisters showed up early, around 10:30 am while I was getting into my red dress. I couldn’t meet them in person, as I was not supposed to be seen by anyone from the groom’s family yet until Tom fetches me.

In the mean times, my girlfriends were getting ready at my house and supposed to head to Brenda’s place directly themselves. I was directing my brother to get the lunch catering. There was a bit of uncertainty around this whole schedule. Tom and his crew were supposed to be picking up the roast pig on their way to the house. This is part of his offering to the bride’s family. But my brother must also be back before Tom so he can open the car door for Tom. Yes, some kind of ritual… But the food was not ready yet for pickup! So we sent Tony (my brother-in-law) to get the food and Dennis coming back to fill his role. All I can say is; there were lots of running around. Of course, the kiddies were all excited because of the number of people in the house. They probably didn’t know what is going on, but it’s all the same as long as it’s excitement!! Then the photographers arrived, we were able to capture a few pictures. And I am hoping they turn out great…

For now, here are the amateur pictures of the morning. I am holding off on the wedding pictures since I should be getting them this Friday. I want it to be as much a surprise for you as for me!!!
