The Rocks, The Falls, & the GoofIES - Part 3

The day continued with us walking toward the river. The level is high and very clear. We decided to have out picnic lunch along the river bank. We had a very “junk” food diet with lots of snack, salami and cheese on crackers, fresh and dried fruits, beef jerky, cookies, dates…yap, all the good stuffs. Afterward, we arrived at the Ahwahnee hotel. Upon parking our car, we spotted a few rock climbers. With my little point and shoot camera, this is the best I can do to get the shot. I couldn’t tell you how high they were, but yes, very very high.

We walked around the Ahwahnee property, checked out the cottages. They look like perfect spots for a romantic getaway inside the Yosemite. Yes, I would love to stay there one of these days. We did the hike to the mirror lake, not a difficult one, but certainly a smelly one. We took the dirt path, which is the same one the horse/donkey tour normally takes, not the paved one road. We came across a tour of them on our way up. We finally arrive at the mirror lake in the late afternoon. It sits perfectly still at the bottom of the half dome.

On the return, we found more blooming dogwoods. Michele calls this fairy land because of the budding dogwoods surrounding the Ahwahnee hotel. Under the late afternoon light, the greenish flowering trees do resemble something out of a storybook. Wouldn’t you agree???
