The Rocks, The Falls, & the GoofIES - Part 2

On Saturday morning, we had a late start to Yosemite, as we first enjoyed a leisure breakfast (will talk about the food separately) and a stroll to Bass Lake, which is right outside our timeshare front door. Bass Lake is man made. The setting is serene; we didn’t see any human activities on the water except the noisy Canadian geese and ducks. We had to be careful as we step around the Canadian dropping. They certainly ate a lot and *** a lot. On the way back, we encountered this over grown apple blossom tree, I think… of course, the Rudenko(s) had to walk up and sniff on it…you are getting the trend here, think it is a family trait, at least from the ones in this party so far…

The Goofies

We packed and we packed, you would think we were going to be lost in the jungle or something…

Today was going to be full of short walks. Our first stop was a big slate rock area just before the tunnel view. It is also my first sighting of the half dome and bridalveil fall in the distance. I felt small, ok, extra small compared usual. Since the water is so abundance in the spring time, so is the vegetation. The valley is green, the moss is going crazy. It doesn’t take a genius to take gorgeous pictures when the natural setting is already perfectly set. For this 3 days weekend trip, I took over 500 pictures. I couldn’t help it; there were so many subjects, a branch here, a patch of color there, etc…

Of course, you couldn’t discount the human models. I had goofy on hand, ready for me to create stories. I asked Tom to pretend he is rock climbing like Spiderman by tiling the angle of the photoshoot. Afterall, the slates are so massive in size. Only the far distance background gave it away. Marsh and Tom then posted as Batman and Robin in old comic book, going up a tall building by pulling on ropes. Next I took a butt shot of the Rudenko siblings. Definitely, changing perspective makes it interesting…

Bridalveil Fall

Our next stop is the bridalveil fall. Michele said she used to climb up the fall rocks. That is during the period when the fall is not so full of water. Now, you would most likely be washing away down the stream. No attempt was made to climb those rocks this time after just looking at it. You can see from Michele’s face that we were wet from the fall splashes. This is one of the most popular spot, also a very short walk from the parking lot. So there were tons of people. My hubby attempted to take a picture of me, he needs photo session, as the entire fall is missing from the picture because he centered me perfectly in front of the fall and totally blocked it!!!

A Place for Renewal
Consider that I have only been married for 6 months; I have already come up with 3 spots to renew my vows!

When we were looking for places to do our wedding, we love the Wayfarers Chapel, but it doesn't have banquet facilities onsite. I love the location and the architecture. So I said to Tom that we should renew our vows here in 10 years. He said OK since he found this place in the first place.

Then while we were house hunting, we came across the Neighborhood Church. I have heard great things about it before, and finally seeing the place, I added it to the list too.

At our next stop as we headed to the Yosemite Valley, we found the little community chapel in front of the Yosemite falls, YosemiteValley Chapel. Now, I have to add this to my growing list! As you recede from the chapel, you would be staring at both the upper and lower falls. How wonderful would this be! Now there is a little issue here, does one have to do the renewal around the same time frame as the original wedding date??? In November, the falls would probably dry up by then. Spring would be much much better timing and a nip in the air would match our November temperature!!!

Yes, definitely wasting brain cells right now, but it is fun...
