Before I wander too far, I should capture this month’s hosting event. As I mentioned previously, I host a monthly wine pairing meal for me to do some cooking and learn some about wine pairing. This month’s theme is Burgers. Being July, a hot month of BBQ, I thought it would be fun to sample different kinds of burgers on the grill, excluding BBQ of any things such as ribs or wings. We had about 12 people this round. Instead of wine, we had different kind of beer, which is probably more appropriate for the food choice. Here is the menu list:
Salads: Pineapple fruit salad, Vegetable pasta salad, and I made a Grill peach toss salad with balsamic vinaigrette.
Burgers: Asian burgers with a peanut butter sauce, Turkey burgers with a pear chutney, Salmon burgers with a dill tartar sauce, and I made Maple bacon wrapped, cheddar cheese stuff burgers.
Desserts: Key lime cheesecake cupcakes, Flourless chocolate cake
All of them are so good. And I had couple sips of the beer around the world Tom bought. But I forgot to take a picture of the beer selection! Anyway, click here for the rest of the pictures.
By the way, I am a new owner of a courtyard umbrella. Looking at my bare backyard, Tom quickly pointed out that it would be the middle of the day with no coverage during the event time, no one will be outside under those temperatures. He so nicely went to the market and got me one and even put them together for me!!! I borrowed a second one from my brother-in-law. I am sure all my guests were thankful for that only if they know. It is useful to have a man around…
As always, I don’t size portions too well, I over estimated the amount of meat I needed once again. So I had plenty of food for my family. The kiddies came by to visit and had a bit to eat prior to all the other guests. I think both Makayla and Caden enjoyed digging out the ice from the beer bucket on the floor more than the food I was grilling.
