Visiting Jenn in Detroit

I was scheduled on a business trip to Toledo, yes all the way there; in East Coast time….Detroit is the fly in airport and then another 45 minutes drive.

So I went out a day early on Saturday so I can spend like a day with Jenn until my drive out to Toledo on Sunday night. Yes, it took an entire day to get anywhere in the East Coast time zone anyway with connection + 3 hours difference. I didn’t arrive until late afternoon.

A bit of freshen up; we were out the door, hitting Birmingham for a nice fish dinner at Mitchell’s Fish Market. The city just started the indoor non-smoking rules, so GREAT. We were a bit earlier than our reservation time and decided to eat at the bar instead, while looking out the glass wall at all the expensive cars driving by, paying particular interests in evaluating the different SUV models pulling up for valet parking. I thought I was in the market for a car, after the RAV4 unplanned departure. I am the non-car person and Jenn is a big car fan….she knows her stuff. Me, I do know how to drive one, does it count?

See, here is the problem. My portable camera, Canon SD550, has been broken since end of May. And I wasn’t going to take my Nikon D90 on this trip, so no pictures, so sad. And therefore memories of the trip were a bit vague. No, for whatever reason, I also forgot to ask Jenn to bring hers. Yes, whole visit and no record whatsoever….

Dinner ran late because there was so much to catch up. Then, like at last minute, we remembered we had a 10pm movie to catch. Yes, Sex and the City 2. She and I watched the Sex and the City the year previously. What timing…..so a mad dash from the restaurant to the movie theater, running, crazy; wasn’t it.

We both enjoyed the movie, lots of laugh and gaga eyed at the clothes and the settings. Oh, it was all about the clothes and the shoes. But wouldn’t it be nice to get all dressed up at times…Since I got married, that frequency seems to be a lot less intermittent. I have to make an effort when I go out, not that my hubby knows the difference. Yes, my hubby doesn’t know if I had colored my hair or not!!!

The next morning, she made me breakfast. Finally, someone making me breakfast instead the other way around! Follow that, we hit the stores. I needed to find the Anthropologie store in Birmingham to look for the red coral cabinet knobs for my guest bath. Love the shop. Found a few, so we had to go to a second one to find the rest, making up a total of 10. I wanted to go to the local HomeGoods too, but it was going to be tight. Final decision was to check out Loehmann’s instead. Yes, another fruitful outing….not so good for the wallet.
