We did a first round of apartment hunting in Las Vegas this past weekend. I cannot say on the blog why we have been apartment hunting until the deal is done.
Anyway, this time we stayed at the Red Rock Casino & Spa in the Summerlin area instead of down at the strip. It is a beautiful hotel and spa. I felt like I was in a Scottsdale resort, especially when our room faces the Red Rock Mountain. I couldn’t get up early enough to watch sunrise, but sunset was just as great. We have toured the Red Rock Canyon itself in prior trip. The entire Summerlin area is new and well planned. There are some outrageous large mansions here. Really, do you want to pay the electricity bill to cool down that 10,000 sqft home? I can’t imagine what the bill would look like. I am definitely into smaller footprint home now, especially after our current 3500 sqft residence with just the two of us. We have plenty of footage.
We arrived on Thursday evening around 8pm after a decent haul from Los Angeles. Luckily, we had the traffic angel with us. On Friday night, the hotel was hosting a Goo Goo Dolls concert / pool party. We were visiting at Val’s place for a BBQ dinner at his home in Henderson. We had hoped by the time we got back, we could get a glimpse of the concert since we can see the stage from our room. One thing after another, the BBQ went later than planned, we did not return until midnight or so. By then the after party was still on, and the noise was so LOUD! Same thing happened again on Saturday night, so I have to say unless you plan to do the partying on the weekend at the resort itself, I am not really sure about this place. During the day, it was great, but don’t count on much sleep.
In between the apartment hunting activities, I was able to use the gym and the pool. There are two main pool areas, the big one in the middle of the hotel and a much smaller one next to the gym. I personally like the smaller one with the intimate feel and my favorite turquoise and white color décor.
Here are pictures of the Red Rock facility.
