Goofing Off with the Kiddies

After a full week of intense project at work, I was finally able to send my oversea business visitors home early. I decided I need a break too. I took half day off on Thursday after an early 6:30 am teleconference.

This is spring week for Caden. Makayla has Thursday off anyway. And mom was just baby-sitting at home with the two trouble makers. I picked them up just before lunch and went to Irvine Spectrum. Wow, it was awfully quiet. Ok, maybe we were early and it was a weekday, but it’s almost like a ghost town. The carousel and the Ferris wheel were not up operating yet. We made a quick stop at children section in Barnes & Nobles to burn time. Caden was definitely more interested in the books while Makayla was getting bored…

Finally we went for a round of the carousel. They are kids, very excited, even when they have been here and done it for so many times. They didn’t want to get off. So promises were made to come back later. We went in Ruby’s Diner for a quick lunch. The little packets of jam on the table were more interesting to them than the chicken fingers & fries. Both wanted chocolate milk. Caden proudly told the waiter that he cannot drink white milk. By the end of the meal, I actually get a mouth-to-mouth kiss from Makayla. If you know her, she is pretty shy. And since I don’t see her very often, I get cold shoulder most of the time. Today was different.

After lunch, we went for the Ferris wheel. Up and down, up and down, 3 full rounds. And now she actually wanted to see my camera and spotted herself. She wanted to see “Makayla” in the camera. I remember that stage with the boys around the same age. By the time we went to the car, Makayla kept saying “she saw fire.” When we were driving back, we realized she meant she was tired, as she passed out in the car seat even before we pulled the car out of the parking lot. Wish I can be that free….anyway, it was good time well spent.
