Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas

On my return flight from the Netherlands, I met up with Tom in Las Vegas. One of the studios of his company was having a year-end wrap up party in Las Vegas. They paid for his flight and one night of hotel at Hard Rock Hotel. And there was some kind of promotion at Planet Hollywood where we got two nights of complimentary stays. Yes, Vegas business must be slow! Since this is the weekend before our first anniversary, Tom would like to spend the weekend there. So I routed my international return to Vegas and bought my own segment from Vegas back to LAX.

I didn’t arrive in Las Vegas until after 10pm on Friday night. By then, Tom’s company party was almost over and I didn’t feel like socializing after a long distance flight. Tom was not impressed with the Hard Rock Hotel which really surprised me since he is a big rock n’ roll fan. Of course, I wasn’t there when he checked in. We got a smoking room, yuck! By then it was too late since the hotel was booked out due to the company party. We checked out pretty early the next morning to escape this place.

We checked into the Planet Hollywood. It is much better and definitely more stylish. Ok, I was not so sure about the décor. It was nicely done, but who wanted Bruce Willis and Samuel Jackson staring down at you while you bath??? Haha, the bathroom had a picture from the movie “Die Hard: With a Vengeance”. The bedroom had a memorabilia, a jacket worn by Bruce Willis in another movie; I didn’t recall what movie it was. Very strange indeed!

The plan was good but my body was not cooperating. I slept a lot over the weekend while Tom went playing pokers and keno. I knew it would have been better for me to fly straight home as I would pretty much be useless except the hubby didn’t like to be along there!!! Yes, I should be thankful that Tom is not the kind of hubby who would like to be “without the other half” in the sin city…

At one point, I needed to get out of bed and wandered a bit. So we went picture shooting at the Bellagio. I wanted to see some autumn setting, just to be doing something than shopping and eating and sleeping….there’s only so much one can do with these three areas…

I knew I had been traveling a lot but thought I could handle it. Well, it was staring back at me on Sunday. When I tried to check in for my return from Vegas, I couldn’t find my reservation. And it finally dawn on me that I booked it for the wrong date. I must have punched in Monday instead of Sunday, a result of speed booking a flight after a 15 hours of traveling from LAX to Spijkenisse. Ugh, I had to buy another one way ticket. It was cheaper to buy a brand new ticket than to change my existing one. The change fee is outrageous these days. This was my second mass up this year so far. At least the first screw up was using miles and I was able to redeposit without cost. But still not a good thing…..
