I met up with Ira and Tsi-Li this morning at Takashimaya center. Wow, it has been a long time since I last saw Tsi-Li. I had seen Ira when she and her husband came over to Las Vegas for New Year break. Of course, knowing Tsi-Li’s personality, first thing she said to me is if I were pregnant!!! I, just as bluntly, answered, “No, I am just fat and bloated.” And then we both cracked up and LOL!!!
The line for dim sum is just way too long at the Crystal Jade Palace Restaurant. So we went to the La Mian Xiao Long Bao for more express service. Tsi-Li brought her two kids, wow, they grew so tall now. I started to feel middle age, just looking at them. Then I looked at Ira and thought maybe we are not that old!!!!
We just kind of picked up our conversations like we haven’t been apart for too much. It was so nice that when you knew each others for so long that you didn’t have to reinvent your tales. There is such comfort in this.
Afterward, we went over to the SkyPark at Marina Bay Sands. It is the newest shopping/hotel/ conference center complex. There are plenty of world famous chefs with their outlets here. Well, I knew I wouldn’t have time to do any of that. But I wanted to see the public art inside the building and the view from the SkyPark on top. And you have to buy a ticket to go to the top. Honestly, the outside architecture is more impressive than the lobby itself. It seems a bit “minimalist”, and very monotone in colors. I do like the gigantic pots. And of course, way too many people there.
There is also a casino onsite. If you are local Singaporean, you would need to pay a fee to go in. But if you are foreigner, well, no problem, spend as much as you like….this is the way the Singaporean government’s attempt in reducing gambling temptation for their own citizens. Interesting concept, isn’t it?
We didn’t have perfect weather on this day, very hazy. But I found, the more I travel, the more I appreciate the time I spent with PEOPLE, not necessary the scenery anymore. I have been so busy since I got married with adapting to my new life and the crazy work travel schedule; I know I haven’t really do justice on the people relationship part. There are only so many hours in a day. I need like a whole year off to catch my breath, really…
Here are self portraits of the girls. SELF PORTRAIT so we looked kind of strange. It is the angle, I promise.
And here is the slide show from the Skypark.
