Tamborine Rainforest Discovery Skywalk

It’s the weekend finally. I didn’t prep much in terms of how I would spend this weekend here in OZ. I used to be a lot more proactive with this kind of wandering. But now, over travel and just want to lay back, I suppose.

Regardless, my colleague did stop at the tourist office to check things out. We both are cheapies. So after looking at the day tour options, we opted to drive out to Mount Tamborine ourselves.

Queensland is known for its beaches and rainforest. Mount Tamborine National Forest is the nearest one from Brisbane, about an hour drive southwest. On my agenda are two different sightseeing stops: (1) Tamborine Rainforest Discovery Skywalk and (2) Glow Worm Cave.

The Hertz GPS couldn’t really find the Skywalk. Good thing I did some prep work on Saturday morning with Google Map and wrote down the instruction. We figure even though we might not know where we were going, the GPS would definitely know how to bring us back. And I was the designated driver. My colleague never drove on the other side of the road, and I wasn’t about to let her start!!!

The skywalk is basically a bridge high above the forest floor, making it easier than stumbling around on the ground. The entire walk is about 1.5 km, only about half is on the metal structure. At one particular lookout point where the bridge extends out farther with only pulling cable, you can feel the bridge is swaying…kind of scary. Make sure no little ones around jumping up and down.

I have done canopy walk before. This is a bit different and the structure is more stable than the Latin American version. I hardly sweated at all. The weather was so nice this time of the year. Since this is autumn, also no flower blooming anymore, but it was still a great relaxing walk in the rainforest.
